35-44 yo female who underwent an ethnic rhinoplasty and is now 3 months post-operative. Rhinoplasty is a unique procedure for each individual and there is no one size fits all approach to achieving a successful rhinoplasty surgery. The goal of the surgery is to meet the patient’s aesthetic goals, manage expectations, and to create a unique surgical plan and outcome that is constructed for the individual. Additionally, we strive not to create a “surgical” appearing nose but rather a nose that looks natural and fits the individual patient. In this case, the patient wanted to improve the projection and definition of the dorsum and tip of the nose. Therefore, I built-up the radix and dorsum of the nose with cartilage to improve the height of the nose and contour of the dorsum. For the tip, I increased the projection and rotation of the nose while also defining and narrowing the tip of the nose. This can be especially visualized from the basilar view. From the post-operative photos you can see we improved the aesthetics of the nose but maintained the ethnic features of the patient. This concept is fundamental to ethnic rhinoplasty.
